Carkhojo - Hyundai Comes with Small car to Rule this Segment

The competition prevailing in the market for small cars in India will further intensify with the introduction ofHyundai Motor India (HMI)’s new car in this segment. They are planning to introduce a small car and thereby make a big threat to Maruti Atlo. Presently Maruti is ruling this segment.
HMI is India’s second largest car maker and they are the brand owners for the famous cars, Hyundai Santro and Hyundai i10. With an objective to give a tough competition to Maruti Alto in small car category, the company is making a small car. The development process is going on at the Research and Development centre in Korea. The company is hopeful for the development this new car as per their objectives.
Hyundai Motor India not yet set a time for the launch of this new small car. But it will be competing with Maruti Alto, the largest selling cars in India. More than 20,000 units of Maruti Alto are selling each month in India. Hyundai Motor India is also planning to introduce its premium SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) Santa Fe in India by next month.

Carkhojo - Mercedes-Benz will Soon Churn out Bus Bodies from Chakan

Churning out bus bodies, Mercedes-Benz India is on the pipeline of constructing a new plant in Chakan, Pune. With the presence of Mr. Piyush Arora (Director, Technical, Mercedes-Benz India) & Mr. Srinivas Chilukuri, General Manager, Bus Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India, Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India laid the foundation stone of this new plant.
A plant for constructing bus bodies already exists in Chakan and the city buses are building its bodies from this plant. Addressing the future expansion needs, the infrastructure of the plant is creating. It is expected that the new bodies for buses will be built from this plant by the second half of 2011.
By constructing this new plant, Mercedes-Benz India is aiming to make luxury travel affordable for public transport users of the urban population. For this, the company is partnering with MCV. The market for high-end city buses is very profitable. Mercedes-Benz India aims to conquer this segment.

Tata Indica


First vehicle meat for passenger comfort and manufactured by Tata Motors is Tata Indica. Although the manufacturing of the car took place in India, yet it was exported in Africa, Europe and other nations from the year 2004 onwards. The technologies available in this model are Power steering, Power windows, intercooler, turbocharger, fog lamps, windshield that are tinted.
In the days of its inception, the Tata Indica received customers’ grievances. The complaints were regarding the gas mileage and horsepower that was not as it was promised. Being to such complaints, Tata brought out an improved version of Indica and named it as Indica V2 (version 2). This proved satisfactory. However, Tata once again improvised on this V2 version as well and brought out the recent Indica V2Xeta petrol in 2008.

Honda City

First manufactured in the year 1981, Honda City is a small car built in the hands of the Japanese manufacturing company, Honda. At he time of inception, Honda City was manufactured for the users in Japan, Europe and Australia. However, it was sc raped out of the market on the year 1994 with replacing it with any other car. The name plate were utilized in Asian countries for other four door sedans, whose marketing subsequently shifted to Australian and Latin American countries. After renaming the City after 1994, the Honda City that we presently see on Indian roads has an engine of 1.5 i-VTEC. The different variants of the car are E MT, S MT and V MT. These version possess a manual gears whereas the V AT version is the one with automatic gears. The recent launch is the E version after the feedbacks received from customers regarding the interior designing and the cost.

Honda Civic

Manufactured by the Japanese Motor Company Honda, Honda Civic is a subcompact car running in North America as the second-longest running car company after Toyota Corolla. After a series of years, the Honda Civic has gone through numerous changes, making it better and more up market, than what it originally was. From being a two door coupe in the year 1972 that changed into a three door hatch back, the Honda Civic had an engine of 1166 cc, with satisfactory interiors inspite of having small spaces. Additional improvements includes power locking, power windows, air conditioning system, satellite –linked navigation, leather upholstery and six-speed manual transmission. The Honda Civic has become well known for its high performance capacity and sportiness. It was in the year 2008 when Honda Civic replaced the Ford F Series to become the highest selling car in US.

Ford ikon

The manufacturing and selling of Ford Ikon takes place in India. If we are aware of the Ford Fiesta Mark V, then we can say that Ford Ikon is the sedan counterpart of it on Ford B3 platform. In the earlier years the car was also manufactured in South Africa, Mexico and China where it unfortunately stopped. In India, the Ford Ikon saw its first manufacturing in the year 2008. There were certain changes made from the model produced in the aforesaid nations. For instance, diesel engine was installed and exteriors were improvised primarily with the intentions of winning the competition faced from Maruti and General Motors. This new Ford Ikon had such additional features as Autocop Anti Theft system, rear spoiler, leather Seat covers and a music system that was compatible with iPod.
